Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the "Secure Mode"?
When the "Secure Mode" is checked, you will be asked to enter a password to encrypt your text by using AES 256-bit encryption. AES 256-bit encryption is safe enough to encrypt your sensitive information such as username, password, adddress, etc. Since the encryption/decryption is done at client side and no password or original text is transmitted to the server, it is pretty safe againsts any kind of network sniffing or monitoring attempts.
- How long will my text be stored in TextBin?
By default, your text will be stored for one day before it is removed from our database. You can also store the text for 1 hour, 30 days or permanently.
- What do I need in order to use this service?
You just need to copy and paste your text in TextBin and click on "Paste"! Your text will be stored on our server. To retrieve the text, just copy and paste the generated link. We try to generate simple link for you to remember easily and copy.
- TextBin is cool! How can I contribute to TextBin?
You can submit any idea, comment, etc. to us so that we can improve TextBin from time to time. Moreover, if you have a blog or a site, you can link to us.
- Why I can't encrypt text with more than 100 Kilobytes?
Due to slow speed for AES encryption, we only allow text with 100 Kb and below to be encrypted. TextBin will try to improve this from time to time.
- How do I recover back the lost password for the text which used "Secure Mode"?
There is no way we can help you to recover back the password as we do not store any password or original content of the text. TextBin stores only the hash value (which is used to check data integrity) of the original text, and the encrypted text on our database.
- I use TextBin in both IE and Mozilla Firefox. Why do TextBin look different in different browsers?
This is because Internet Explorer and Mozilla FireFox interprete the CSS style differently.
